Elgin, Model 600 marine chronometer, fusee-drive with spring detent escapement and 56-hour winding indicator, gimbaled brass tub set within a two tier mahogany box with Elgin signature plate, observation glass to upper side, outer mahogany box with Elgin signature plate, leather strap, silvered dial of approximately 4 inch diameter, KWKS, spring detent escapement with capped escape wheel, 14J, free-sprung Guillaume balance with helical Elginium hairspring, mvt marked "U.S. Navy, Bu. Ships" and with 1943 date, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#126 with matching serial number to dial.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, few mild fine to micro-fine scratches; dial excellent in visible portion with few very small contact marks to surface, some edge scrape under bezel; seconds-hand is bent, other hands excellent; brass tub nearly mint with some fine scratches to rear, some scattered mild spotting; good glass crystal; gimbals excellent with good function, some scattered dark spots; inner box with good button latch function, scattered scratches; outer box is excellent showing very little wear, few minor dings, strap appears likely a replacement and shows light wear.
